32-year-old Lisa Norton was sentenced last Thursday to twelve months of probation in Boulder county for driving while ability impaired.
Colorado State Patrol reports that, the following Saturday, a woman also named Lisa Norton was involved in two accidents near Longmont, both believed to be alcohol-related. Authorities have yet to verify that Lisa Norton is the same woman in both cases.
While Norton's first accident Saturday was a side-swipe hit-and-run that caused no injuries, in the second, her Ford Ranger pickup crossed Nelson Road and hit an oncoming Nissan coupe.
Westword reports that Gabriel Nielsen, the driver of the Nissan, was killed. Passengers Cherish Francis, 24, and a 2-year-old child were seriously injured.
Police say that Norton fled the scene on foot and attempted to swim away from authorities in a nearby lake. Boaters picked her up and turned her over to the Longmont Police.
