Pink and Victoria Beckham pictures reveal poles apart pregnancies

THEY'RE polar pregnancy opposites - one flaunted her burgeoning baby bump to the world, while the other hides hers with loose clothing and over-sized designer handbags.

Pictures surfaced last week showing just how differently stars Pink and Victoria Beckham approached their pregnancies.

New mum Pink, dressed in a boho-style white maxi and floppy sun hat, was clearly relishing her newfound curves as she celebrated Memorial Day weekend in Malibu, California with husband Carey Hart and friends last weekend.

Just days before she gave birth to new baby Willow Sage Hart, the first-time mum couldn't stop smiling, even as she struggled to get her cumbersome frame out of a green Chevrolet on her way to lunch at Neptune's Net restaurant.

Her glowing exterior is in stark contrast to Beckham, who has managed to conceal her baby bump behind swathes of cleverly-draped fabric and accessories as her due date looms closer.

Despite knowing that after three boys she's about to have a baby girl, the 37-year-old former Spice Girl has retained her usual reserved exterior since her footballer husband David announced the news via Twitter in January.

The juxtaposition has prompted Insider to ask why one celebrity is out and proud, and another in hiding.

Since Pink announced her pregnancy on Ellen DeGeneres' US television chat show in November, the athletically built pop singer has openly embraced her changing body, wearing low-cut dresses to show off her ample cleavage and bulging belly and organising nude, beachside photo shoots to document the change.

"big day of photos with the incomparable Andrew Macpherson.Thankful 4 the glamorous bumpday.finally got nakies on the beach!!! #EXHIBITIONIST," she tweeted in March.

A month earlier the 31-year-old also posted a self-portrait of her stomach on the social networking site with a post critiquing the paparazzi's photographic skills.

"She's basically saying, 'I'm pregnant, I love it and I'm embracing it'," says clinical psychologist Gemma Cribb.

"She's loving this stage and her husband clearly is too."

"Victoria's body language in recent photos, on the other hand, is a bit coy and secretive.

"Her image has for a long time been one of a fashion queen and glamour puss, so to speak, whereas Pink has a more natural, athletic, life-embracing persona."

Beckham's weight issues and her struggles throughout her previous three pregnancies have been well documented.

The British fashionista, who is understood to be planning another Caesarean birth, has reportedly hired celebrity fitness trainer Tracy Anderson to help her drop kilos after the birth and return to her size-zero frame.

Size-zero stylist Rachel Zoe has also allegedly befriended the designer and made visits to Beckham's Beverly Hills home to offer advice on staying slim.

"Victoria has been eagerly listening to her advice and they've become firm friends," a source was quoted as saying of the pair.

Pink, on the other hand, appears to be more relaxed, with a take-it-as-it-comes attitude to both her diet and usually strict fitness regime.

Psychologist Cribb says that while falling pregnant is a major event, it's also a very personal one, and every woman - celebrity or not - has the right to approach it differently.

"When a woman falls pregnant, they don't just think 'how am I going to be as a mum?', but also 'how does this affect me as a woman and what does this mean for my attractiveness, my sexiness and my persona?'," Cribb says.

With their vastly different approaches, time will tell if the two stars' attitudes to motherhood change after the births.
